Ken Block Ford Fiesta Sweepstakes
As I sit here to write this, the Gymkhana 5 video clocks in at an impressive at 20.7 million views, tomorrow it could be at 22 million. Considering the amount of viral videos that have graced our computer screens, it’s amazing to see that in only a few days it has become one of the most watched videos in the world. Behind all this is none other than rally driver, entrepreneur and all around Hoonigan Ken Block. What started off as a “just for fun” event turned into a burnt-rubber-induced video coma for a few hundred million people. What is it though that makes this video downright spectacular? Aside from an extremely skilled driver in Ken Block, some beautiful locations and a brilliant director, you find sitting at the heart of it all a 600-hp Ford Fiesta road-destroying, rally car. A Real Hybrid When you see the word “hybrid” you wouldn’t think that a 600-hp dirt covered Ford Fiesta would be the culprit, but think again. Dubbed the H.F.H.V or Hybrid Function Hoon Vehicle, the second generation rally Fiesta is specially built to manage different set ups. Each set up contains a specific assortment of shocks, wheels and depending on the event, differentiating gear ratios. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=paoPcFvsbrA&feature=player_embedded For rally, the Fiesta comes stocked with plenty o’gadgets. A custom built Garrett turbocharger, a Sadev AWD system, a dual-core intercooler and 17-inch Speedline wheels. While the Gymkhana setup contains most of the same parts, the shocks, dampers and ride height have been adjusted to cope with on-road Hooniganery. These modest changes allow the car to perform at highest capacity in each setting. Ken’s team says that this is one of the “most versatile and unique race cars ever built,” and even claims it as street legal, barely. Spec-tacular Sprint times are a must on any rally car, and in today’s game, three seconds just ain't going to cut it. Thanks to an impressively responsive all-wheel-drive system, the Fiesta sprints to 60mph in 2.0 seconds flat, a second faster than Mr. Blocks previous Subaru WRX STI. This power comes from a 2.0L, 600-hp, 665 lb-ft. of torque Ford EcoBoost engine, rather than the previous 1.6L. This newer engine provides the car with better durability and a simpler setup. “The H.F.H.V is awesome. It’s like a modern day group B rally car, and the perfect Gymkhana and rallycross all in one.” -Ken Block The Basics: Make: Ford Model: Fiesta Cost: $500,000 (not for sale) Engine: 2.0L, 4-Cylinder EcoBoost Horsepower: 600 Torque (lb-ft): 665 See more of the Ken Block's Ford Fiesta RS Rally Car here
